How to Get an IP Address for Luxembourg

If you need an IP address in Luxembourg, the best and easiest way of getting one is with a Virtual Private Network. I have tested and reviewed the most popular VPNs that can get you a Luxembourg IP address.

At a Glance

Luxembourg is a tiny country – barely more than half a million people occupying an area equivalent to that of a medium-sized English county. It’s difficult to get to and there’s not a lot of space once you arrive.

But just because you can’t visit Luxembourg (technically the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) in person, doesn’t mean that you can’t be there virtually.

Can a VPN Help Me Get an IP Address From Luxembourg?

If you were actually in Luxembourg, you would already have a Luxembourg IP address. Since it’s statistically unlikely that you are in Luxembourg, you’re going to have to fake it by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) so that your network traffic appears to originate from there.

Most VPN companies have infrastructure in Luxembourg, and routing your traffic through their servers will not only give you a Luxembourg IP address, but also fool the sites you visit and your own web browser into thinking you’re surfing the web while sipping Diekirch beer on the banks of the Sauer.

You’ll also enjoy the excellent data protection regulations which apply in the European Union and which are among the most comprehensive in the world.

In this article, I review the top six best VPNs for getting an IP address in Luxembourg.

How Do You Get a Luxembourg IP Address? With a VPN, of Course!

Getting a Luxembourg IP address couldn’t be easier. Here’s what you need to do.

How to get a Luxembourg IP address:

  1. Choose a VPN service with servers in Luxembourg and buy a subscription. I recommend NordVPN.
  2. Install the provider’s VPN apps on all the devices you plan to use.
  3. Find a server in Luxembourg and connect.
  4. Visit sites as if you were actually in Luxembourg.
  5. Enjoy the internet from your new virtual abode in the center of Europe.

Remember, your browser cookies will tell sites where you recently logged in from, so remember to clear your cookies out to get that authentic Luxembourg experience!

Best VPNs for Getting a Luxembourg IP Address

Not all VPNs were created equal, and there can be profound differences in performance, availability, security, compatibility, and logging across the different providers. I tested the best to give you the lowdown on the top IP address providers in Luxembourg.

Best VPNs for a Luxembourg IP address:

  2. Surfshark: Best budget VPN option. Surfshark is the best budget option. It gives you a Luxembourg-based IP address that you can use with an unlimited number of devices (provided you don’t abuse it).
  3. ExpressVPN: Premium VPN service. This provider is fast. It employs proprietary features to protect your privacy on its servers, offers bank-level encryption, and is very easy to set up and use.
  4. CyberGhost: Good VPN for rookie users. CyberGhost has simple, very easy-to-use apps, fast connection speeds, and solid customer support.
  5. Private Internet Access (PIA): Reliable access to Luxembourg IPs. PIA provides reliable access to content in Luxembourg and several other countries around the globe. Also provides comprehensive online protection.
  6. PrivateVPN: David among VPN Goliaths. This small but mighty provider’s global server network is the smallest one on this list. That said, it provides reliable access to geo-controlled content in Luxembourg and everywhere else it has servers.

These are my best recommendations for which VPNs to use to get a Luxembourg IP address.

1. NordVPN

NordVPN May 2025

Apps Available:

  • PC
  • Mac
  • IOS
  • Android
  • Linux

Website:  www.NordVPN.com

Money-back guarantee: 30 DAYS

NordVPN is probably the first name that pops into your mind when you’re thinking about VPNs, and for good reason.

The Panama-based provider has been around since 2012, and has an astonishing 5,700+ servers in 60+ countries around the world, Luxembourg included.

If security is your main concern, you’ll be relieved to learn that NordVPN uses military-grade encryption and has implemented a bug bounty program so that any potential vulnerabilities are detected and erased before hackers can exploit them.

A kill switch installed on your system means that if your connection to the NordVPN servers is disrupted, no further traffic is allowed until the switch is reset. This means that your unprotected data never makes it onto the wider internet. There’s also DNS leak and IP leak protection.

As the company is headquartered in Panama, where there are no data retention laws, NordVPN is not obliged to keep records of its customer base, and is not subject to either the Five Eyes or Fourteen Eyes surveillance alliances.

Perhaps most importantly, NordVPN is a “no logs” VPN. This means that although your data passes through the NordVPN servers, they keep no records of it, saying that it’s none of their business. As no logs are generated, the company can’t be compelled to hand them over, nor can they be stolen. Because they don’t exist.

The provider’s owned-and-operated servers mean outside contractors are kept well away from customers’ personal data. Also, all NordVPN servers are run 100% from RAM, meaning no data is ever written to a physical hard drive or SSD. This means that all data is securely wiped from the servers when they are shut down or rebooted.

If you want to cover your traces even further, NordVPN allows you to pay in Bitcoin, ensuring that not even your bank knows you’ve bought a subscription.

A NordVPN subscription allows you to connect up to 6 devices – giving them all shiny new Luxembourg-based IP addresses.

NordVPN is the fastest of all the VPNs I tested, with no noticeable network lag – meaning that you’ll be able to stream live sports and video without issues.

Apps are available for Windows, macOS (with native M1/M2 support), iOS, Android, Linux, Android TV, and Amazon Fire. Extensions that can be added to Chrome, Edge, and Firefox browsers are available to protect your individual browsing sessions. Router support is also available.

In the unlikely event that you need help with your NordVPN subscription, the NordVPN website is home to an extensive and searchable support library, and provides both email-based support and 24/7 live chat.

Pros:

  • IP addresses in Luxembourg
  • Superbly speedy
  • Excellent security and privacy protections
  • Very cost effective
  • Solid multi-platform support

Cons:

  • No labeled streaming-optimized servers

BEST VPN FOR A LUXEMBOURG IP ADDRESS:In my opinion, the best overall VPN to get a Luxemburg IP address is NordVPN. The provider’s incredible connection speeds, great security, and support for multiple device platforms make NordVPN well above average. If you’re not satisfied, a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee is available.

2. Surfshark

Surfshark

Apps Available:

  • PC
  • Mac
  • IOS
  • Android
  • Linux
  • FireTV

Website:  www.Surfshark.com

Money-back guarantee: 30 DAYS

There aren’t any sharks in Luxembourg, and there isn’t much opportunity for surfing either. Luxembourg is completely landlocked and located across a range of hills and mountains.

You will, however, find a Surfshark VPN server – one of the company’s 3,200+ servers, which are spread across more than 100 countries, Luxembourg included.

Surfshark is mostly focused on customer security, offering military-style encryption, and protection against both DNS and IP leakage.

Privacy is first-rate, and in addition to its no-logs policy, offers built-in protection against internet trackers, ads, malware, and phishing – meaning no one will be following you around the net. A Bitcoin payment option is also available.

Surfshark also takes security a step further using “MultiHop” to route your internet traffic through two different servers to make your no-log anonymity even more anonymous. Like NordVPN and ExpressVPN, the provider runs its servers 100% from volatile RAM.

With Surfshark, you can expect high-speed streaming, so that your movies, TV shows, sports, and video games will never be interrupted.

Best of all, it offers connections for an unlimited number of devices – although I don’t know how true this is in practice. The Surfshark Fair Use Policy doesn’t give an actual number, but the provider “reserves the right to enable limits of an immoderate number of simultaneously connected devices.” It’s suitably vague, but I can’t imagine that the policy would have any real effect on the average user.

Surfshark has apps for iOS, Android, Android TV, Linux, macOS (with native Apple silicon support), Windows, and Amazon Fire. There are Chrome, Edge, and Firefox browser extensions available for download, and you can even route your entire household through Surfshark thanks to its router support.

If you need help, Surfshark offers around-the-clock live chat, as well as email support and a searchable knowledge base.

Pros:

  • Servers in Luxembourg
  • Longer-term subscriptions are great value
  • Top-notch security and privacy protections
  • Unlimited simultaneous connections

Cons:

  • Basic apps

BEST FOR BUDGET:Surfshark is a solid contender, with fantastic security and privacy protections and compatibility with a vast number of devices. It offers great protection, an IP address in Luxembourg, and no logs. Taken over a longer period, Surfshark offers fabulous value for money, along with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

3. ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN

Apps Available:

  • PC
  • Mac
  • IOS
  • Android
  • Linux
  • FireTV

Website:  www.ExpressVPN.com

Money-back guarantee: 30 DAYS

With a name like that, you would expect ExpressVPN to be fast, easy to use, and possibly without any of the thrills and frills. And this is exactly how it advertises itself – “The VPN that just works.” As for the frills (or lack thereof), you can make your own mind up.

The service also doesn’t explicitly state that it’s end-to-end encrypted, although it does use bank-grade AES-256 encryption to keep your data safe, and swears it will never “log traffic data, DNS queries, or anything that could be used to identify you.”

It prevents DNS leaks by forcing address queries through its own DNS service, and has a traffic kill switch in case you become disconnected from the ExpressVPN servers.

ExpressVPN exclusively uses “TrustedServer technology” which “ensures no data is ever written to a hard drive, keeping you secure.” It essentially means that each new connection you make is to a brand new virtual server, which is destroyed after you leave.

Those servers include more than 3,000 servers stationed in 94+ countries, including Luxembourg.

As the name suggests, ExpressVPN connection speeds are very fast.

ExpressVPN has created apps for macOS (with native M1/M2 Mac support), Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire, and Google’s Chromebook. There are browser extensions available for Brave, Vivaldi, Firefox, Chrome, and Edge, or you can set up your router to connect to ExpressVPN directly.

ExpressVPN is the stingiest on the list when it comes to sharing the connection with your friends and family. You’re limited to five simultaneously connected devices. I don’t know about you, but I can see more than five connected devices within spitting distance of where I’m sitting right now.

Although, the provider’s router features make it easy to protect multiple devices through a single point of connection.

If you’re not happy with the service or its features, ExpressVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. However, you should be able to sort out any problems or issues through the 24/7 live chat, email support, or the ticket submission system. There is also a fully searchable knowledge base, which should help you get to the root of any problems.

Pros:

  • Very easy to set up
  • Strong, bank-level encryption, and good privacy protections
  • Works with a wide range of devices
  • Excellent customer support

Cons:

  • Only five simultaneous connections
  • Very expensive

SPLENDID FOR STREAMERS:With lightning-quick speeds, ExpressVPN is great for internet users who want to access geo-restricted content from a Luxembourg IP address. Great security and privacy protection means that your data will always be safe. A 30-day money-back guarantee is available.

4. CyberGhost

CyberGhost

Apps Available:

  • PC
  • Mac
  • IOS
  • Android
  • Linux
  • FireTV

Website:  www.CyberGhost.com

Money-back guarantee: 45 DAYS

With a name reminiscent of a mid-1990s Saturday morning cartoon, CyberGhost aims to make you invisible on the net. Whether you’re new to VPNs or an old hand, CyberGhost’s easy-to-use apps mean that you’ll have no problem getting connected straight away.

It’s another VPN provider that places a premium on security and anonymity, offering a raft of encryption measures, including super-strong encryption, kill switch, and DNS leak protection.

The VPN itself uses the excellent and open-source OpenVPN protocol, so if you have the skills, you can inspect and verify the source code of the software.

CyberGhost was originally headquartered in Germany, but later moved to Romania, where the national government has refused to adopt the EU Data Retention Directive on a number of occasions. The company doesn’t keep logs and accepts Bitcoin payments.

The provider has 9,000+ servers, located in 90+ countries, Luxembourg included.

Naturally, you’ll find that connection speeds are supernaturally quick.

Simple, easy-to-understand apps can be installed on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, Android TV, and Amazon Fire device platforms. Separate browser extensions are available for Firefox and Google Chrome. There’s plenty of support for routers, too.

Of the providers which limit device usage, CyberGhost is perhaps the most generous – allowing up to seven devices to connect simultaneously.

CyberGhost offers 24/7 live chat, a ticketing system for problems, and a fully searchable knowledge base.

Pros:

  • Servers in Luxembourg
  • Easy to set up and use for beginners
  • Fast speeds
  • Can connect up to seven devices

Cons:

  • Apps can be a bit too simple and lack advanced features
  • Not reliable in all parts of the world

BEST FOR BEGINNERS:CyberGhost is a great all-around package for those without VPN experience, but who want a Luxembourg IP address. The apps are incredibly easy to use, and best of all, there is a very generous 45-day money-back guarantee.

5. Private Internet Access

Private Internet Access

Apps Available:

  • PC
  • Mac
  • IOS
  • Android
  • Linux
  • FireTV

Website:  www.privateinternetaccess.com

Money-back guarantee: 30 DAYS

Private Internet Access (PIA) provides reliable access to IP addresses inside Luxembourg and several other countries around the globe. The VPN provider has 3,300+ servers stationed in nearly 85 countries around the world.

PIA customers’ are well-protected, thanks to PIA encasing its customers’ internet connections in an impenetrable tunnel of banking-grade encryption, IP/DNS leak prevention, and kill switch protection. The provider can also block ads, trackers, malware, and dangerous websites.

The provider saves no user logs on its servers, meaning there is no evidence to be had of its customers’ online antics. A Bitcoin subscription payment option keeps your payment info private.

PIA provides native app support for Android, Android TV, iOS, macOS, Windows, and Linux devices. Chrome, Opera, and Firefox browser extensions are available to protect your browsing activities. The provider is also compatible with select router makes and models.

The provider puts no limit on the number of simultaneous connections users are allowed to make to its servers.

PIA’s connection speeds are the second slowest on this list. While that may sound bad, the provider’s connections deliver enough bandwidth to handle popular online activities. There are no data caps or bandwidth throttling to deal with here.

Customer support offerings include live chat, a trouble ticket system, and a searchable support database.

Pros:

  • Access to Luxembourg IPs and geo-fenced content
  • Extensive global server network
  • Comprehensive online security and privacy

Cons:

  • No streaming-enhanced servers
  • Doesn’t work reliably from inside China and other restrictive countries

RELIABLE ACCESS TO LUXEMBOURG IP ADDRESSES:Private Internet Access provides reliable, well-protected access to IP addresses in Luxembourg and several other countries. The VPN has comprehensive online security and privacy protections. A 30-day money-back guarantee is available.

6. PrivateVPN

PrivateVPN

Apps Available:

  • PC
  • Mac
  • IOS
  • Android
  • Linux
  • FireTV

Website:  www.PrivateVPN.com

Money-back guarantee: 30 DAYS

PrivateVPN‘s global server network is the smallest one on this list. That said, the provider’s network (more than 200 servers spread around 60+ countries) provides well-protected access to Luxembourg IP addresses.

While PrivateVPN also “boasts” the slowest connection speeds on this list, the provider’s connections still deliver more than enough bandwidth for streaming, online gaming, and more.

When using PrivateVPN, your online activities are kept incognito with banking-grade encryption, IP/DNS leak prevention, and other protective measures. The provider’s “Stealth VPN” feature keeps your VPN usage hidden by making it appear to be normal browser traffic.

PrivateVPN’s strict no-server-logs-ever policy prevents any records of your online travels being saved while connected to its servers. A Bitcoin payment option keeps your subscription information undercover.

The provider’s app support also comes up a bit short, as it offers apps for only Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows device platforms. Browser extensions are also missing. The VPN can be used on Linux devices and select routers with just a bit of manual set-up.

Up to 10 simultaneous connections per user can be made to the provider’s servers.

PrivateVPN’s customer support offering includes live chat, a support request form, and an FAQ section.

Pros:

  • Reliable access to Luxembourg IP addresses and content
  • Stealth VPN hides your VPN activity
  • Comprehensive privacy and security protections

Cons:

  • Server network needs improvement
  • Device support could be better

“STEALTHY” ONLINE PROTECTION:Let’s face it, PrivateVPN’s global server network is rather small. That said, the network delivers reliable access to IP addresses in Luxembourg and other countries where it has servers. Along with the usual online VPN protections, the provider’s “Stealth VPN” feature hides your VPN usage. A 30-day money-back guarantee is available.

Methodology for Assessing VPNs to Get a Luxembourg IP Address

When deciding on a VPN to grab an IP address from inside Luxembourg, there are several features to consider. Below, you’ll find the most important factors that I consider when ranking VPNs.

  • Global server network: The larger a global server network, the better global access to IP addresses and content. Also, look for providers that have multiple servers located in each of the countries they serve. This reduces the chances of a single server being hit with too many users at once.
  • Connection speeds: Whatever you enjoy doing online, a fast connection is your best friend. The VPNs on this list provide more than enough bandwidth for your favorite online activities.
  • Value: To determine a VPN’s true value, compare a VPN provider’s asking price to the features it offers. The VPNs on this list offer an excellent return on investment.
  • Ease of use: A VPN provider should offer easy-to-use apps for popular device platforms. Each VPN I included on my list offers intuitive apps for numerous devices.
  • Security and privacy: VPN providers should, at the very least, use banking-grade encryption, an automatic kill switch, and DNS/IP leak protection to keep your online activities undercover. A strict no server logs policy is also a must-have. The providers on my lists provide top-notch security and privacy.
  • Streaming: Streaming is a popular online pastime. The VPNs on this list offer reliable access to several popular streaming sites, including Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and others.

My in-depth research doesn’t end here. This list contains just a bit of my VPN testing methodology. This data-driven approach allows me to rank these VPNs, so my readers can decide on the best VPN to meet their personal needs.

Why Are International Users Banned From Some Luxembourg Websites and Services?

The simple answer is rights. And money. Providers have to pay for a license to broadcast or distribute films, movies, games, and sports, and those licenses are restricted to certain geographic areas.

For content made in Luxembourg for a limited audience, it doesn’t make sense for large foreign companies to buy the rights to show local soccer games or shows in countries where few, if any, people will want to see it.

From their point of view, it’s money down the drain.

And that’s why you can’t always view the latest media from Luxembourg unless you’re actually in Luxembourg.

While it’s likely possible to take out a subscription to a Luxembourg-based service, you may not be able to access it due to geoblocking (more on that in a minute), and your bank may get suspicious if you’re paying for a consumer service thousands of miles away from where you live.

A VPN can help you with some of these issues by giving you a public IP address – making it appear as if you’re actually present in Luxembourg.

And remember to let your bank know that they may be dealing with transactions coming from a genuine Luxembourg IP address!

How Is Content Geographically Blocked?

An IP address identifies your computer’s location on the internet, and allows it to talk to other computers and servers elsewhere in the world.

When you connect to a content provider’s server network, their software logs the IP address your machine is connecting from.

IP addresses are given out on a country basis, so if you’re connecting from Canada or the U.S., they’ll recognize that right away, and may either redirect you to your own country’s version of their service or block you altogether!

An IP address is tied to your actual location in the real world and potentially, to your real identity. Private companies and legal entities can demand that your internet service provider hand these details over.

A VPN minimizes these problems by giving you an IP address in Luxembourg. By using one, geoblocked Luxembourg content will become instantly available to you.

And as none of the VPNs on my list keep connection logs, they are unable to give out your details.

How Can I Access Blocked Luxembourg Content From Overseas?

If you’re out of the country, but you can’t do without your favorite show that is only available in Luxembourg, it’s easy to access them with a VPN, as you will have a new IP address inside Luxembourg.

Here’s what you do:

  1. Subscribe to the VPN provider that meets your needs. (NordVPN is my #1 choice.)
  2. Log into the service and install the app(s) on your device(s).
  3. Open the app on your device, and choose a server in Luxembourg.
  4. Visit your favorite Luxembourg sites and services. If you find that you still can’t access Luxembourg content, try clearing your browser cache of cookies.
  5. That’s it!

What Else Can I Do With a VPN

You can do pretty much anything you want with a VPN. VPNs exist to keep you and your communications secure, and, if using one of the VPNs I’ve recommended, employ the highest levels of encryption.

You’re aiming to get a Luxembourg IP address at the moment, but with a VPN subscription, it’s easy to switch to an IP address in another country as well. Fancy streaming content like Italian soccer matches or the latest Canada-exclusive Netflix series? No problem.

Having a VPN also means that you’re protected from snooping when using other people’s WiFi. This is especially handy when you’re using a public WiFi hotspot, which can be dangerous because of the lack of encryption that public WiFi hotspots offer.

Usually, the operators of a router, an ISP, and the DNS will be able to see what sites your machine is connecting to – that’s potentially a lot of snoopers. With a VPN, the only connection they’ll see you make is to the VPN. And they won’t tell a soul.

Some Internet Service Providers in certain countries will throttle your connection based on the type of traffic. This means that if the networks are under strain, you may notice the bit-rate of your video streams drops, and your torrent flows drop to a trickle.

If your VPN is correctly set up, your ISP won’t be able to see what you’re doing, and won’t be able to throttle speeds based on what type of data you’re using.

Can I Use a Free VPN

Sure. Why not use a free VPN? So long as you’re prepared to accept the risks and limitations that come with it.

A free VPN seldom gives convincing assurances that your activities are kept secret from prying eyes and that the VPN operator itself isn’t keeping tabs on what you’re up to. They’re not charging you to use their expensive infrastructure, and they need to make money somehow.

There are anecdotal reports of free VPN providers recording customers’ online activities and selling them to any third parties willing to pay.

And then there’s the issue of quality. Free VPN connections are usually slow and unreliable, and free VPNs will often throttle your bandwidth to save it for their paying customers. There’s often a queue for a VPN server location in the country you need to become available. Time allowed on free VPNs is usually limited by the company running it.

If you absolutely must use a free VPN, try not to do anything that involves your own personal details or accounts. You never know where they’re going to end up.

Conclusion

All of the options provided by all of the providers auto-renew and with one of them, the price even rises after the initial period, so keep that in mind if you find that you’re not satisfied with the service and want to cancel before the 30- to 45-day money-back guarantee period.

If you want a Luxembourg IP address, you can’t go wrong with NordVPN. It’s my #1 choice because it’s fast, secure, anonymous, has many apps, and accepts payment in Bitcoin. It was a close contest, but I feel confident in stating that NordVPN is head and shoulders above the competition.

Enjoy your virtual presence in Luxembourg!

Luxembourg IP Address FAQs

How Can I Look up My IP Address When Connected to a VPN in Luxembourg?
