- Server Network: The larger a VPN’s global server network, the better access you’ll have to geo-blocked content around the globe. Also, look for multiple servers in an individual country, as that lessens the chance that an individual server’s performance will take a hit from serving too many users at once.

Sure, you can find a free VPN provider that will work in Tokyo. But, I’m certain the “free” VPN experience will not be enjoyable.
Most importantly, your privacy is at risk while using a freebie VPN.
You see, even a “free” VPN needs income. Many no-charge VPNs will track their users’ online travels, selling the valuable information to anyone that is willing to pay for it. That means they’ll sell it to advertisers, the government – anyone that is willing to pay.
