The Best 2020 Black Friday & Cyber Monday VPN Deals

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the biggest shopping days of the year, as shoppers can find deals on everything from pots and pans, to big-screen Smart TVs, to toys, to literally almost anything.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) providers are not immune to the allure of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and many are offering some great subscription deals this year.

In this article, I’ll be sharing some of the best deals available this year. I’ll also be offering up a few paragraphs about the features that make each VPN service such a good deal.

If none of the VPNs I list here fit the bill for your unique needs, visit my friends over at Comparitech for their extensive round up of the best Black Friday VPN deals.

Buy a VPN Before Doing Other Black Friday Shopping

If you’re a security-minded individual (and you should be), I’d strongly advise you to make a VPN your first Black Friday or Cyber Monday purchase before perusing the rest of the virtual online mall.

A VPN encrypts your internet connection, preventing prying eyes from monitoring your online activities.

This comes in especially handy when shopping online, as it prevents hackers from monitoring your online shopping and perhaps stealing important personal information, such as your credit and debit card info, banking info and more.

I particularly recommend a VPN if you’re going to be doing your Black Friday online shopping from your local coffee shop or other public location that offers a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Most public Wi-Fi hotspots are unprotected, lacking the encryption normally found in business and home Wi-Fi networks. This makes public hotspot users a particularly attractive target for hackers.

Whenever you’re shopping, paying bills or banking online, always use a VPN to protect your activities. Even if you’re on the secured network of your home or office (be honest, many of you will be shopping from your desk at work – we all do it), use a VPN to provide an extra layer of protection.

The Best 2019 Black Friday & Cyber Monday VPN Deals

In this section, I’ll list what I found to be the best deals among the various Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals of 2019.

I’ll first tell you about the special deals each provider is offering, then I’ll tell you about the features they offer.

1. ExpressVPN

BLACK FRIDAY/CYBER MONDAY DEAL:ExpressVPN is offering 3 months free when you subscribe to their popular 1-year plan. That’s a 49% savings off of their regular price.

PROMOTION AVAILABILITY: Now through at least Cyber Monday, which is December 2.

ExpressVPN is my #1 overall choice for the VPN that provides all-around top-notch service.

The provider has over 3,000 servers stationed in 94 countries around the globe, delivering unparalleled unblocking power for content nearly anywhere in the world. (The provider even works from inside China.)

The provider’s speedy connections (the fastest in my team’s most recent round of VPN speed tests) provide reliable access to streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, Disney+ and many more, as well as gaming services, P2P file sharing services and other websites and services that might normally be unavailable in your area.

The provider’s security and privacy offerings are also top-notch. All ExpressVPN connections are protected by banking-grade encryption, a reliable kill switch, and DNS leak and IPv6 leak prevention.

The provider never stores any user-related information, including usage logs, on their servers. Plus, the provider’s Bitcoin subscription payment option allows you to keep your payment info completely incognito.

The provider offers native app support for most popular device platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, Chromebook and Amazon Fire devices. Chrome and Firefox browser extensions offer convenient one-click protection for your online shopping, and the provider’s router features offer protection for all of your connected devices.

Up to 5 devices can connect to the service simultaneously, using a single set of login credentials, so the entire family can finish up their shopping at the same time.

2. NordVPN

NordVPN logo

BLACK FRIDAY/CYBER MONDAY DEAL:NordVPN customers will pay just $3.49 per month when they commit to a 3-year subscription deal. They’ll also score 3 extra months for free. That comes out to a 70% savings!

PROMOTION AVAILABILITY: Now through at least Cyber Monday, December 2, and maybe longer if the deal proves to be popular.

NordVPN offers an extensive global server network made up of 5,200+ servers located in 59 countries. The provider offers reliable access to numerous websites and services around the globe.

While NordVPN’s connection speeds rank in the lower echelons of our speed test results, they are by no means slow. The service’s connection speeds can easily handle most any of your favorite online activities.

Online security is never a worry with NordVPN thanks to its military-grade encryption, kill switch protection, and IPv6 and DNS leak prevention. The provider also offers the option to double-encrypt your connection by routing it through two VPN servers and to obfuscate your VPN activity, making it appear to be normal internet traffic.

Plus, the provider’s no-logs policy and Bitcoin payment option ensure your offline privacy too.

Multi-platform app support has the major platforms covered, including iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, Android TV, Amazon Fire and Linux devices. Chrome and Firefox extensions are available.

Router support is also available to protect all of your devices. Up to 6 devices can be protected at once on a single set of login credentials.

3. CyberGhost

Although CyberGhost has yet to post a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention their current deal, which offers a low price of $2.75 per month when you opt for a 3-year deal.

Plus, they’ll slip you an extra 2 months free as part of the deal. That’s a savings of 79%, which is a great deal on any given Friday.

(I’ll be sure to update this article if and when CyberGhost posts a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal.)

CyberGhost has nearly 5,800 servers scattered around the globe in 90 countries. That’s what I call comprehensive coverage.

Those servers do an excellent job of unblocking blocked content. Plus, many of CyberGhost’s servers are specially designed to enhance streaming from numerous popular services around the world, and other servers are optimized for P2P file sharing.

The provider’s fast download speeds also do a good job of enhancing your favorite online activities, particularly when you’re streaming video or sharing large files.

Security and privacy are well-protected here, as CyberGhost uses military-grade encryption, kill switch protection, and IPv6 leak and DNS leak protection.

In addition, the provider’s apps can block unwanted ads, malicious websites and tracking cookies. They can also force websites to serve up HTTPS versions of their pages, which is a great protection when shopping online.

A no-server-logs policy and a Bitcoin payment option offer optimal privacy.

CyberGhost provides comprehensive app support, with native apps for the iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux, Android TV and Amazon Fire platforms. Shoppers can also make use of the provider’s Firefox and Chrome browser extensions to protect their online spending sprees.

Router protection is also available. Up to 7 devices can connect using the same set of login credentials.

4. IPVanish

IPVanish logo

BLACK FRIDAY/CYBER MONDAY DEAL:All of IPVanish’s subscription plans are on sale, starting at $3.25 per month. Save up to 73% off the 2-year plan. Use code CYBERDEAL19 to score the savings.

PROMOTION AVAILABILITY: From November 1st until December 2nd.

IPVanish has over 1,300 servers in 50+ countries around the globe. While that’s good global coverage, the provider has a somewhat hit-or-miss record when it comes to unblocking content from other countries.

The provider’s download speeds are above average and can easily handle gaming online, downloading large files and streaming content from any service you might find that it unblocks.

Government-grade encryption, IPv6 and DNS leak prevention, kill switch protection, auto-reconnect and “Scramble” connection obfuscation all add up to comprehensive connection security.

As for privacy, the provider’s self-owned and -operated server network provides an extra layer of privacy, keeping third-party contractors away from your info. A no-logs policy means there’s no evidence of your online activities. Sadly, no Bitcoin payment option is available.

App support from IPVanish includes apps for the iOS, Android, Linux, macOS, Windows, Windows Phone, Chrome OS and Amazon Fire device platforms.

No browser extensions are available, but the provider’s router support will protect all of your devices. The provider allows 10 concurrent connections on a single login.

5. Surfshark

SurfShark logo

BLACK FRIDAY DEAL:Pay just $1.99 per month (an 83% discount) when you commit to a 2-year Surfshark subscription.

PROMOTION AVAILABILITY: From now until Black Friday, maybe through Cyber Monday.

Surshark’s global server coverage comes up short when compared to that of other providers on this list, but the service is quickly adding servers. They currently have over 1,000 servers, which are stationed in 61+ countries. That’s double the coverage they had the last time I checked.

The provider does a great job of unblocking streaming services around the globe, such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer and many more.

Fast internet speeds will ensure you won’t have to wait too long for the streaming action to begin. Those fast speeds will also come in handy for downloading large files and any other online activity that might come to mind.

The provider protects your internet connection well thanks to bank-grade encryption, a kill switch, an ads and trackers blocker, and the ability to automatically activate when connecting to an unknown Wi-Fi network.

A strict no-logs policy and a cryptocurrency payment option mean your privacy is never at risk.

Android, iOS, macOS, Linux, Windows and Amazon Fire apps are all present and accounted for. Chrome and Firefox browser extensions are available. Plus, the provider’s router support will protect all of your other connected devices.

This provider is a particularly good option for large groups of users that require VPN protection, thanks to its unusual unlimited simultaneous connection allowance.

In Closing

Once you purchase a VPN subscription, make sure to install it on all of your connected devices, especially the device you use to shop online. A VPN provides an additional layer of protection between you and the bad guys that are looking to steal your precious information and make it a Dark Friday instead of a Black Friday.
