How Is Content Geographically Blocked?

Content providers can block or allow access to their internet content by checking your location, which they can detect by checking your IP address.

Much like a postal address identifies your home, IP addresses identify your devices on the internet. An IP address tells other devices on the internet where a request came from and where a response needs to go.

And, just like your home address, your IP address also identifies your physical location. (Ranges of IP addresses are assigned to a particular country for devices connecting in their country to use. This allows identifying your physical location.)

By looking at your IP address, video streaming services and other content providers can tell where you’re located and block or allow access to their content.

How Can I Access Blocked Estonian Content From Overseas?
